An evening with DeadPhish Orchestra @ GAMH

SEE EVENT DETAILS
SHOW 9pm DOOR 8pm
Colorado-based, Deadphish Orchestra will be bringing their unique take on the music of Phish and Grateful Dead to the historic Great American Music Hall in San Francisco on Thursday, Feb. 18. With set lists that seamlessly blend the repertoires of each band, DPO has established itself as a truly unique musical experience for fans who relish the improvisational unpredictability so often associated with jamband scene. To honor the occasion, they will be creating a mashup of the Grateful Dead’s seminal live album, One From The Vault (recorded at Great American Music Hall in 1975), and Phish’s first live album, A Live One, in the very manner that has earned DPO their pioneering status.
There are literally hundreds of bands around the country who play the music of the Grateful Dead. More recently, bands who play the music of Phish have begun to bubble to the surface as well. The members of the Deadphish Orchestra had dabbled with both, and it began to occur to them that there was some true creative potential in attempting to bridge the gap between the two. Using the improvisational nature of the music as a springboard, they have created a mash-up of the two bands’ music that has proven to be fresh and exciting every time they take the stage.
DPO has seen remarkable success in the last couple of years, and this will be their first appearance at the Great American Music Hall, a venue where the Grateful Dead themselves appeared many times throughout the years, and where Phish made a pair of appearances in their early years.
