An Artist's Trip to Baghdad

Andrew Heine saw his fair share of tragedy as a Marine in the Iraq War, yet when he reflects back on his time overseas-which he express in song-form with his band Dogcatcher-it's not so much the tragedy he's focusing on, it's the other details. He doesn't make light of the death and destruction he witnessed, yet part of him saw the whole experience as a variation of travel. He kept a daily journal, and collected small, seemingly insignificant objects he found while in Iraq. This Friday, Heine is sharing some artwork that he's made since returning home that was inspired by his war journal and the found objects from Iraq. Dogcatcher will also perform an acoustic set at the exhibit. (Aaron Carnes)
