The Village Impacts Presents: Emerging Arts San Francisco

Highlighting Emerging Artists: We're proud to live in an area with one of the richest musical histories in the country, and we want to see that tradition of innovation kept alive. So, in an effort to help support and grow the local music scene, The Village Impacts presents Emerging Arts San Francisco--a concert series designed to pay respect to the musicians who helped put Bay Area music on the map while highlighting the best emerging artists the local scene has to offer. Each installment in the series will showcase a handpicked lineup of the best up-and-coming musicians in the area with a headlining set from a fixture in Bay Area music.

Producing A Unique Experience: As part of our effort to empower local music, emerging artists on the bill will have access to The Village's state-of-the-art media capabilities. Musicians will have the unique opportunity to extend the visual scope of their live show by incorporating the venue's 75 ft. projector screen into their performance while The Village's pro video team uses a multi-cam production to record each set.

Oct. 24, 2015 - Doors: 8pm, Show: 9pm
The Village at 969 Market St.

Amp Live:

As a solo artist and one half of pioneering hip hop duo Zion I, Amp Live demonstrates his ability as an innovator, experimenter, and trendsetter that has garnered him solo recognition, bringing together the EDM and hip hop worlds with a technical and classical sensibility.

Amp Live is building a rep as one of Cali's most talented and diverse music producer/DJs. After his dreamy soulful beats for the hip hop group Zion I, he has been able to produce for major and independent artist such as Akon (Warner), Flipsyde (Interscope Records), Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussy Cat Dolls (Interscope), Tokyo Police Club, MGMT, Linkin Park , Goapele, and Mystic. In 2008, Amp Live released "Rainydayz Remixes", a remix album of Radiohead's In Rainbows LP, to critical acclaim. In 2010, Amp Live Released Murder At The Discotech, aka Electroland Part 2, the follow up to ElectroLand Vol 1: Drum n Bass Sessions (2005). Murder at the Discotech was released by OM Records and features guest appearances by longtime collaborators Eligh, The Grouch, Zumbi. In 2011, Amp Live released the free "You Are Not Human (The Love EP)", and toured opening for Bassnectar, who remixed Amp's track "Hot Right Now". Amp was also featured on Bassnectar's 2012 song, "Ugly". Always experimenting, Amp Live has also took on genres of rock, dance, electro, mashups, and drum 'n bass.

Survival Guide:

Survival Guide is an artistic endeavor featuring California vocalist and keyboardist Emily Whitehurst. Her music falls somewhere between indie rock and electronic, always with descriptive, storytelling lyrics, strong vocals and a sprinkle of pop. After supporting Joan Jett, performing at First City Festival 2014 (Beck, The National, Phantogram) and recording a freshman full-length album, Survival Guide was named one of the Top 12 Bay Area Bands of 2014 by San Francisco’s premier rock radio station, Live 105. The new album (May 2015), entitled “Way to Go”, conjures feelings of a dark modern fairytale and showcases Whitehurst’s vocal range and talent, following two previously released 7" vinyl singles, “Hot Lather Machine” and “Wildcat”, released on San Francisco’s Side With Us Records.

Le Vice:

Le Vice deftly blends a wide spectrum of sounds and musical styles ranging from rock and electro, to soul and dance, to any other rad genres you can think of. After 5 (or 6 or 7?) years of building in the Bay Area’s “melting pot” music scene, Le Vice still finds a way to hold true to their diverse musical roots. Their palette of warm, fuzzy analog synths, matched with guitars which are sometimes meaty, and other times ghostly, float in vast space, cradled by full and driving bass and live drums. Marry these classic timbres with digital synth sounds and booming 808 drums and you have Le Vice... well, kind of. Because in the end when you mush all those flavors together, it is simply catchy pop music; viable for the masses.

Having had the opportunity this past year to work with songwriting and vocal producing guru Lashawn “Shiz” Daniels (Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Whitney Houston) and hit maker producer Donnie Scantz (Usher, Miguel) at the legendary Sound City in Los Angeles, lead singer Alex Lee and bassist/keyboardist Stillinger have become quite the formidable songwriting team in their own right. The two have built themselves a squad of highly talented, formally-trained musicians, who happen to still be undeniably unique creatives. they are thick as thieves; they are family. And when you see them play together, it’s obvious.

With her sexy, rich, raspy lower register, Lee embodies the spirit of the pied piper when performing. Entrancing the audience and leaving them compelled to call in sick to work in order to keep the party going. Back her with one of the best trios in the Bay Area, layer them with that edgy, diverse sound and sprinkle that sweet pop sensibility back on, and there you have it...you really have it this time...Le Vice.

Crashing Hotels:

The brain child and third musical incarnation of Ao Anderson (1865, Todd Durpin), Crashing Hotels blends driving guitar chords, melodic synth arrangements and thumping drum patterns to create a mystical music experience that carves out its own space. The natural emotional range of this Electric Rock duo goes from up-tempo dance grooves to dark symphonic ballads leave lasting impressions whether experienced in a social or isolated environment.
