Description

$20 – Cost of ticket is applied to the cost of a ticket to Long River High Sky if purchased that night on-site.

Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet hosts a spectacular kick-off party for Long River High Sky, the critically acclaimed collaboration with Shaolin monks. Come mingle with the LINES Ballet dancers and enjoy an evening of art, drinks and hors d'oeuvres.

During the evening, Frey Norris Gallery presents Inkie Whang's first exhibition in a private American gallery, a large installation of the artist’s signature colored silicon dollop patterns on gridded canvas boards. Twelve of these pieces will be on display on three of the gallery main walls, functioning both as two dimensional wall-hangings and three dimensional sculptures, evoking traditional Buddhist and Confucian meditations on nature as a source of spiritual renewal.

Long River High Sky is the critically acclaimed collaboration with the Shaolin monks of China and runs at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, May 28-June 1, 2008. Back by popular demand, Long River High Skypremiered to sold-out audiences in the spring of 2007. Long River High Sky is set to an original score by composer Miguel Frasconi and by Melody of China, a San Francisco-based Chinese musical ensemble led by Musical Director Hong Wang.
