All Your Sisters @ GAMH w/ VANIISH, Them Are Us Too, DJ Justin Anastasi & DJ Hether Fortune (Wax Idols) Presented by VX + Pub

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Door 8pm / Show 9pm

All Your Sisters take on the post-punk paradigm is decidedly non-retro. The basic building blocks are there; heavy drum machine rhythms, pumping melodic bass lines, swaths of atmospheric guitars and cold synth melodies, but where many bands are content to wallow in the shadows of their influences, All Your Sisters sounds like the future. All Your Sisters is the work of Jordan Morrison and Mario Armando Ruiz. The band was initially a solo project initiated by Morrison in the fall of 2011 but Ruiz became a regular member and contributor in 2012. All Your Sisters are based in San Francisco, California.
The San Francisco 4-piece VANIISH began when singer/guitarist Keven Tecon (ex Wax Idols, The Soft Moon, Veil Veil Vanish) left his previous bands after his mother’s death in early 2013. After returning home, Tecon decided to focus entirely on a new project along with fellow Wax Idols and Veil Veil Vanish member Amy Rosenoff (bass) and SF music-scene luminaries Adam Beck (guitar/keyboards) and Nick Ott (drums). The album Memory Work is both dense and spacious, combining the atmosphere of early 4AD with the psychedelic shoegaze of Creation Records.
Emerging quietly from the California bay area through their limited edition demos and intimate performances over the last two years, Them Are Us Too have gained a cult following within independent music circles as a young, new take on the revered “4AD sound” of dreamy goth-pop anthems. With a nod to 80’s shoegaze sensibilities, Them Are Us Too creates songs about tragedy and loves-lost that draws devoted listeners to their nostalgic and innocent sound. Kennedy Ashlyn Wenning‘s vocals have been repeatedly compared to Kate Bush, Harriet Wheeler, and Elizabeth Fraser, with a pitch-perfect octave range carrying songs gracefully between optimistic joy down to undisturbed melancholia – all within one moment of verse. Guitarist Cash Askew paints a layered and complex backdrop using signature reverberation and washes of stringed ambient tones, akin to Robin Guthrie, Ronny Moorings and Kevin Shields.
