Description
For more than a decade, our Saturday morning lecture/concert series with the Alexander String Quartet has brimmed with history, humor and chemistry that happens when the Fab Five of chamber music take the stage before an audience. More than a lecture or performance, these Saturday morning events bring to life the history, art, politics, intrigue and romance that have shaped the music we love for centuries.
These engaging events begin with expert commentary by Robert Greenberg, the ever-popular teacher and composer, who makes learning about music a genuine joy. When he needs to illustrate a musical point, the Alexander is there to provide it. Each lecture is followed by a full performance by the Alexander of the works discussed. The performance element is what sets the Saturday morning series apart.
This season continues the multi-year survey of Beethoven's string quartets, and introduces a new theme, Inspirations, exploring living composers and the works that inspired them.
