Steinway Society The Bay Area, the non-profit organization dedicated to promoting excellence in piano performance and music education in the Bay Area, continues its 20th Annual Piano Series by presenting critically lauded Georgian pianist Alexander Korsantia. Winner of the First Prize and “Audience Favorite” awards at the 1995 Arthur Rubinstein Piano Master Competition, Mr. Korsantia has received international acclaim for his richly varied tone and extraordinary virtuosity. Mr. Korsantia’s veritable superstar reputation garnered him, in 1999, his country’s most prestigious award, the Georgian National Medal of Honor. Mr. Korsantia has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras and conductors throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia. His recent engagements include a televised performance of Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 3 at the White Nights Festival in St. Petersburg as well as performances in Moscow, New York, Boston, and Tel Aviv.
For this appearance, Mr. Korsantia will perform Beethoven’s “Sonata No. 30 in E Minor, Op. 109,” “Sonata No. 31 in A-flat Major, Op. 110,” and Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition.”
