| Description A Woman’s Life in Pieces is the coming-of-age-at-50 exploit of a twenty-first century woman. It’s her kick-ass search for meaning. Bawdy, full of punch and pathos, under the direction of Rosemary Luke, in the character of Calla Lily, Patrice Vecchione, creates a fierce, soulful and funny performance. What’s it look like to live fully, to insist on a little return for your buck? What’s it like to be a woman artist, struggling to be recognized? How does a sagging chin-line, a love of gorgeous shoes and a feeling of helplessness in the face of world poverty come together?
Here’s a woman who makes art because voices in her head implore her to, actually felt her future husband stride into her heart and sit down to take his boots off, fights insomnia with both eyes open, strips naked and shimmies alone in front of a mirror under the advice of her 97 year old aunt, cooks suppers because, in her opinion, mayonnaise is a food group, chocolate is another, and feeding loved ones makes her dizzy with happiness. This spunky gal swears like a sailor and takes the side of children and small animals in all matters. In other words, Calla Lily is an ordinary woman celebrating the extraordinary in daily life. I really hope you’ll come.Actually, I really, really hope you will. Below are details and attached is a flyer for the show. Please tell your best beloveds and anyone else you know who might enjoy meeting Calla Lily Russo! |
