Release Party for Two Poetry Collections by Joie Cook
Zeitgeist Press is proud to announce the release of two collections of work by the late San Francisco poet Joie Cook. Ms. Cook was active in the SF literary scene for almost four decades, noted especially as a core member of the infamous poets of Cafe Babar. Some of her work was published in a 2009 collection by Manic-D Press, but most of it appeared in a series of ten now-obscure chapbooks. These new collections, edited by Richard Loranger, bring together all of the pieces from those chapbooks in a collected works (Joie in Chaps) and in a best-of selected works (She Is Fighting Love). Joining us to celebrate this release with readings from the books is a slew of local literary dignitaries, including Jack Hirschman, Julia Vinograd, Q.R. Hand, Kathleen Wood, and Tom Stolmar, among others. Please stop by to help us celebrate the work of Joie Cook, and to pick up a copy of the books!
