TEMESCAL STREET CINEMA

Temescal Street Cinema is a free outdoor summer movie series featuring the work of Bay Area film and video artists in the Temescal District of North Oakland. Each week opens with live music and features several creative local food vendors. Since it began in 2008, the goal has been to highlight the work of Bay Area artists, while bringing people together in a dynamic community event that fosters connections in our community.

August 13th
T. Rex | Drea Cooper & Zackary Canepari

An intimate coming-of-age story about Claressa “T-Rex” Shields, who at just 17 years old, competes in the 2012 Olympics the first year women’s boxing is included. From the hard knock streets of Flint, Michigan, Claressa is undefeated and utterly confident. She desperately wants to take her family to a better, safer place and winning a gold medal could be her only chance.

Shorts: An Unexpected Turn

A series of humorous shorts that all take a weird or unexpected turn in one way or another. Includes Jonn Herschend’s award winning Discussion Questions.
