In 1993, The Rt. Rev. William E. Swing, then Bishop of California, was asked to host an interfaith service at Grace Cathedral marking the 50th anniversary of the United Nations. Inspired by the idea of the United Nations, he went further and set out to create a “United Religions.” His new book, A Bishop’s Quest, describes his journey circling the globe to seek the insights and support of the world’s most prominent spiritual leaders, including Pope John Paul II, the Dalai Lama and Mother Teresa. He will be in conversation with Caroline Hoxby, Grace Cathedral Trustee.
