African American Regional Educational Alliances (AAREA) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit whose overall goal is to emerge, sustain, and grow a regional collaborative network that designs and implements innovative educational services targeting the needs of African American youth and their families in the Bay Area, by engaging in meaningful conversations and reviewing best practices for improving the academic success of African American students. AAREA assists local educators and schools to integrate culturally relevant and responsive instructional strategies and resources into traditional classroom environments, hold community forums on educational issues impacting African American students and their families and celebrate educators of excellence.

AAREA is hosting the Annual Professional Development Breakfast on Saturday, February 1, 2014 in Oakland. CA. The focus of this inspirational event is to inform and motivate educators and community leaders focused on African American educational equity. Each breakfast features a panel of experts to provide strategies, techniques and resources for accomplishing these goals. The event also acknowledges the contributions of local educators making a difference in the lives of African American students.
