6th Annual Luna Park Chalk Art Festival

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Backesto Park (see times)
The Luna Park Chalk Art Festival is back for its sixth year with music, food, and tons of local artists. The festival takes over the pathways of Backesto Park with chalk art not just by local professionals like Murphy Adams and Lacey Bryant, but students as well. In fact, the whole aim of the festival is to promote art in schools and raise awareness of the dismal state of art programs in public education. Proceeds from the event got to the Luna Park Arts Foundation, which in effect benefits local schools and communities through grants and sponsorships. Alongside the art there will be numerous food trucks, plus music by Cuatro Con Tres, Dogcatcher, This Is Embarrassing, Ukulele Jams, Picture Atlantic and more. (Stephen Layton)

The 6th Annual Luna Park Chalk Art Festival is on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10am to 5pm at Backesto Park.

Artists from all backgrounds will create colorful works of art on the pathways in the park while visitors can enjoy live music, shop for handmade arts and craft, and enjoy the delicious food from a variety of trucks and vendors. Local K-12 schools can participate for free if they register by the deadline.

Participating artists can purchase a vendor space for as low as $25.

Featured artists this year will include Lacey Bryant, Michael Foley, Paul J. Gonzalez, Wayne and Cheryl Renshaw, Katrina Marie Loera, and Carolina Chavez, just to name a few.
