Caminar’s annual fundraising event, aptly named, “In Concert with Caminar” not only raises funds for services, but also brings nearly 400 friends, supporters, mental health advocates and partners together to promote awareness of and reduce stigma around mental illness. Last year’s 51st Anniversary Celebration raised over $435,000, spurring the creation of a new Crisis Housing Fund to bridge financial gaps in the support we provide, and helping our clients avoid homelessness as they progress toward recovery. At this year’s event, we look forward to sharing the impact this Fund has had on its beneficiaries.
To add to the spirit of hope and goodwill, we have started a tradition of introducing a Caminar client who is willing to share their personal story of recovery from mental illness. These individuals often highlight the love and care they receive from Caminar, reminding us that the long and harrowing road from crisis to independence is always more manageable with understanding, acceptance, and the proper support system.
At Caminar, we also believe in the healing power of the expressive arts, which is why we have chosen music as a cornerstone of this celebration through the years. For the 6th Annual “In Concert with Caminar” on Saturday, October 15th, we have lined up Grammy Award winning and nominated jazz musicians Mindi Abair and the Boneshakers Featuring Sweet Pea Atkinson, Lynn Yew Evers, with David Sanborn headlining. Guaranteed to be a night of heartwarming and inspiring stories, exquisite music, delicious food and fun, this event is one not to miss. Your support or attendance at this event will spotlight your dedication to making our community a better place to work and live by raising funds for Caminar’s life-saving services.
