The original and most established annual show of its kind in San Francisco, 30 dealers and more than 60 displays will feature gems, jewelry, minerals and fossils from all over the world.
The historic San Francisco Gem & Mineral Society (SFGMS) returns to Golden Gate Park for its annual weekend show and sale on Saturday, Aug.13, from 10 a.m.to 6 p.m., and on Sunday, Aug.14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Located in the San Francisco County Fair Building at Ninth Avenue and Lincoln Way, the event this year features remarkable, rare collections of rocks, gems, and minerals from south of the border and beyond.
According to Show Chair Ellen Nott, "Our theme 'A Fiesta of Gems and Minerals' emphasizes some of the most colorful displays ever presented at the show. We have arranged a special 'Agate Face Off' with unique and stunning exhibits of agates. We expect an array of amazing specimens, including rhodochrosite from Argentina, tourmaline and topaz from Brazil, imperial jasper from Mexico, and so much more as well."
Show highlights include free "Mineral and Gemstone ID," courtesy of Bay Area Mineralogists (BAM) and others. Professional and advanced amateur mineralogists, geology professionals, and graduates from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) help identify mystery rocks and minerals visitors may have found in backyards, during a hike, or at the beach.
We pride ourselves on being a weekend event that offers something for the entire family interact with and enjoy!
