Bob studies and applies the lessons of historically prodigal mixing perfectionists like Doc Martin and DJ Dan, using focus and balance as companions to allow tracks to trade places without a shred of interruption or imbalance. It is a style that surpasses purely party focused tech-house and uses its accuracy undetected to guide dancers through long, lush, robust and melodic sets, loading tracks that ride and change together.
“Mixing is a philosophy to me,” says Bob. “I don’t think many artists view it like that, but it’s all basic philosophy. For every change you make, you must correct something on the other side. Also my mixes are like presentations: First, I tell people what I’m going to tell them, then I tell them, then I tell them what I told them.”
But aesthetics in programming are where he finds his gifts.
“Programming is everything, as in where you start the next track,” he says. “I can teach you how to match tempo using pitch control, but I can’t teach you song selection and programming. I can give you an idea, but that’s what makes each DJ have his or her own individual style.”

Mike Gushansky has a no-gimmicks, all-killer, no-filler attitude
towards music. It’s born out of organizing Don’t Panic, a series of renegade raves in the Santa Cruz forest, and coming up among the freshest and most unrelenting purveyors of underground dance music in the Bay Area – Raindance, Sunset Sound System, No Way Back, and As You Like It. Gushansky’s attentive style defines his sound: Thoughtful, intelligent, raw, gritty, psychedelic grooves that envelop listeners by creating a gradual, unassuming vibe.
He’s establishing himself as a DJ’s DJ, a journey-maker and a
dancefloor pleaser, a personality well fit to play alongside Kerri Chandler, Derrick Carter, Pittsburgh Track Authority, Bicep, and Mattrixxman, just to name a few artists he’s already supported. Nackt is a DJ, Producer, Lover, and Gentleman. As a co-founder of the Outpost, Rare Form and Deep East parties, he is committed to bringing excellent talent to Oakland and San Francisco! Nackt grew up in the East Bay Area in California, playing jazz saxophone and collecting funk and soul records. After becoming obsessed with hip-hop in the 90's, his extensive vinyl collection was put to good use as sample fuel in downtempo and hip-hop productions. Nackt worked the house party circuit and eventually earned a weekly residency at Oakland landmark, Ruby Room. After holding down a soul and hip-hop residency there for many years, he built on his experience with the weekly Deep East party, and with the eclectic Rare Form undergrounds. He continues to DJ and promote in San Francisco with the left-field and bass-heavy party, Outpost.
Excited by the techno-influenced house and garage revival happening in the UK bass scene, Nackt plays techno, funky deep house, and forward-thinking bass music from across the globe. Depending on the time-slot, you'll hear anything from mellow, ethereal Jacques Greene productions, banging house tunes from Bicep, left-field bass music from the Hessle Audio label, to jacking techno from Boddika. Occasionally he’ll even dust off the old 45s and do a funk and soul set!
