CARMEL VALLEY, CA (March 10, 2015) Cima Collina winery’s eco-friendly approach, involving sustainable farming practices, water conservation and waste reduction, extends to an upcoming family friendly event where recyclables are the reigning stars.
Cima Collina, a family winery recognized for award winning Pinot Noir wines, hosts its second Trashion Fashion Show as a benefit for Hidden Valley arts institute in celebration of Earth Day. The Trashion Show features Cima Collina Winery’s latest wine releases, farm fresh hors d’oeuvres and a fashion show where local designers have repurposed their trash and recyclables into couture attire. Competition is open to college students, artists and designers. Winners will be announced for Most Creative, Best Themed, Best Accessorized, and Best Use of Recyclable Materials. The event will conclude with the crowning of the overall winner who will receive the distinguished title of Dumpster Diva or Dumpster Divo.
Cima Collina Winemaker/COO, Annette Hoff Danzer comments, “Being environmentally conscious has been a part of our business since its inception. From the planting of our sustainably farmed estate vineyard to the winery’s daily operations making use of the latest techniques to eliminate waste and reduce water consumption. We utilize natural cooling of the cellar and recycle all of our glass, corks, and cardboard. We continually seek new ways to decrease our environmental impact.” Hidden Valley’s Founder and General Director Peter Meckel notes, “Hidden Valley is exploring opportunities to protect the environment by harnessing one of Carmel Valley's most abundant resources-sunshine. Solar projects include solar water heaters, solar landscape lighting, and installing solar panels.” More info at http://www.hiddenvalleymusic.org/
