12-Day Flower Piano Extravaganza Arrives at SF Botanical Garden

Back by popular and overwhelming demand, a 12-day Flower Piano extravaganza returns to San Francisco Botanical Garden from July 7-18. Enjoy the summer sunshine by visiting this public piano project that transforms the garden into an outdoor concert hall with twelve pianos tucked into its many flower-filled gardens.

The public is invited to play any of the pianos between 9am and 6pm each day when there are no scheduled performances. At specific times on the weekends, there will be professionals at the keys, ranging from classical powerhouses Allison Lovejoy and Serene Han, composer Alex Conde, the slightly naughty Kitten on the Keys, to new music specialist Sarah Cahill who will be accompanied by violinist Kate Stenberg.

Additional special treats this year include the 80-piece Awesöme Orchestra, a sing along choir, piano duets, and special family-friendly activities with the costumed performers.

Performances are free with regular admission and free for SF residents. Check out the complete event program here.

The Flower Piano series concludes on Monday, July 18 with a Flower Piano Full Moon Walk from 7-9:30pm (requires a separate ticket). Attendees can say farewell to the pianos on this evening tour of the garden with a performance by Serene Han.
