Photo of the Week by David Nguyen (San Jose)

Nice to meet you David. Tell us a little bit of yourself? Which photographers influenced you, and how did they influence your thinking, photographing, and career path?

David: I’ve been a lover of the creative arts since I could remember. From dance to photography and videography, art has always been an expressive outlet for me to let those creative ideas out. I started photography three years ago as a means to capture moments with my friends and family. Over time, the art grew on me and has made a profound impact on my life.

Some of my favorite photographers that have influenced me include: @samuelelkins, @robstrok, @nikk_la, and @ericluis. They’ve influenced my photography to think outside the box and see things from a different perspective. A lot of times, we are only confined to take pictures of what we’ve already seen on social media, but don’t take the time to try out new things. I’ve definitely learned to adapt to that mindset whenever I go out to shoot now. As for my career path, they are prime examples of the saying, “hard work will pay off in the long run.”

Of course, I do not hold my influences to only these people. Everyone around me has influenced me one way or another and I am where I am today because of those people.
