Coachella 2016 Headlined by LCD Soundsystem, Guns N Roses, Calvin Harris

The biggest American music festival announced the complete lineup for its annual desert pilgrimage. Coachella organizers revealed the 2016 headliners, which include two reunions in alternative electronic project LCD Soundsystem and hard rock band Guns N Roses, as well as electronic dance titan Calvin Harris.

This year’s lineup, its 17th annual event, has some welcome returns. These repeat visitors include Australian chill out act Flume (who has a new album coming out this year), as well as British pop vocalist Ellie Goulding, and electronic duo Disclosure. Other noteworthy acts on the 2016 bill include a double dip by Diplo with the appearance of Jack Ü (with Skrillex) along with dancehall project Major Lazer. One would expect that Justin Bieber could make a surprise showing given his participation on Grammy nominated hit track “Where Are Ü Now.”

Even more acts worth highlighting from this year’s lineup include electro-pop band Miike Snow, singer-songwriter James Bay, and rapper Ice Cube. Although tickets have already been sold, additional tickets to this year’s event go on sale on January 6 at 11am PST.

LCD Soundsystem hasn’t played a live show since 2011, but they released a Christmas-themed track this year titled, “Christmas Will Break Your Heart,” which was the band’s first single in five years. Guns N’ Roses were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, and last released an album in 2008 (an underwhelming record “Chinese Democracy”). Calvin Harris earned the second biggest crowd in Coachella history back in 2014, so expect even bigger fireworks this year to close out the three-day weekend on the main stage.

Check out the full lineup on the poster below. Now we wait for the Do LaB stage lineup and fantasize about potential surprise appearances. We also wonder what sort of innovative decorations will pop up after last year’s giant, mobile caterpillar transforming into a beautiful butterfly.
