New Restaurant: Belga
The bar-restaurant with a Belgian-German cuisine opened in the Marina neighborhood, taking over Cafe Des Amis’ former spot. Helmed by chef Freedom Rains and offering a full bar, the dimly lit space is dinner only at this point, with plans to expand to lunch and brunch soon. The menu’s range is impressive, with Californian dishes such as asparagus salad and squash flatbreads rubbing elbows with European stars like carbonade, a hefty Flemish stew and house-made boudin blanc with charred onions.

New Restaurant: Aaxte
The long-awaited Aaxte opened at the Swedish American Hall earlier this month. Chef Ryan Pollnow is behind the menu, focusing on regional Spanish flavors and influenced by the Basque Country, a rare guest at the local dining scene. Dishes currently include octopus salad, Spanish fried rice, rich cazuelas, creative variations on the good old flatbread and more.

New Carnitas Extravaganza: Uno Dos Tacos
The always busy downtown taqueria is now serving happy our by the pound – as a part of the Happy Hour menu, you can now buy a half to a 1.5 pound of succulent carnitas, served with tortillas, salsa, beans and the rest of the works.

New Brunch: Beretta
The much-loved Mission eatery has launched a new brunch and cocktail menu, featuring an array of colorful egg and vegetables dishes accompanied by fiery drinks. The Diablo cocktail – tequila, lime, ginger, agave, cassis, promises a happy, boozy afternoon, while the pork shoulder Panini or the Carbonara pizza ensure fulfillment until dinner.

New Happy Hour: Brasserie 398
The chic eatery attached to Hotel G launches a Happy Hour with appropriate proximity to Union Square. Between 5 and 7 pm, the brasserie serves small gourmet plates ranging from $4.50 to $8 and a selection of $4 beer, $5 wine by the glass and $6 cocktails.

New Cocktail Menu: Redwood Room at the Clift
The iconic hotel is celebrating a 100 years of glamorous existence with a revamped cocktail list with guest creations by some of the city’s best bartenders. The Grape Drink, created by Shawn Vergara of Blackbird, is featuring grapes, agave syrup and peach bitters and may very well be the summery drink we’d all crave if summer was real.

The home-grown chain it taking over the city with a 6th location catering to the hungry office workers and bankers. The menu, luckily, consists of all the familiar classics.
