The Soiled Dove Brings Barbary Coast Style Dinner Theater to the Mission

Theatrical dining experience the Soiled Dove is planned for December with a night of Barbary Coast-themed food, drinks and entertainment in the Mission District.

Organized by Vau de Vire Society—the creative bunch behind the Edwardian Ball, New Bohemia NYE and various side shows at Outside Lands—the five-course dinner Dec. 4-13 will be set to the backdrop of the Barbary Coast’s red light district in a 10,000 square foot space in the Mission.

Diners will be immersed in the scene with performances throughout the evening accompanied by Jazz Mafia and other live entertainment.

“We’ll have over 40 performers and musicians collaborating to help transport guests to the heart of San Francisco circa 1890,” said director/producer and Vau de Vire co-founder Mike Gaines in a release announcing the event. “Our production team is tenaciously transforming the existing environment into a brothel and refined drinking-hole of that historical era. The stories and characters are mostly created and developed for this production with reference to a couple historical characters like Emperor Norton and Shanghai Kelly.”

The menu will be planned by local catering and events company Work of Art, with menu items including dungeness crab fritters, wild bison short ribs and whiskey toffee bouchons.

More details to come as the show nears.
