Golden Gate Bridge Toll Increases Monday
Just in time for spring and summer retreats to Marin and wine country, the Golden Gate Bridge toll is schedule to increase on Monday.
As of April 7, fees will increase $1 for all drivers. The increase was approved by Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District to help close a $142 million budget defciet for bridge maintenance, alternative transportation costs and the Doyle Drive improvement project.
According to the district, 50 percent of bridge toll fees are used to subsidize the bus and ferry system to minimize commute traffic on the bridge. Another $1 increase is scheduled for 2018.
Biking or walking the bridge is always free—for now.
