Public Works and GAFFTA team up to present Matmos

This Sunday, February 24, GAFFTA and Public Works team up to bring you former SF residents, Matmos. Horse Lords, C.L.A.W.S, and Kit Clayton will join the new Thrill Jockey Records signees, with visuals from GAFFTA resident, Golden Suicide.

The duo is currently touring on the tail of their unique 2012 release, Ganzfeld. The process for this EP involved performing experiments based on the Ganzfeld, aka “total field,” experiments. Matmos then took suggestions from the participants’ transcripts on what they saw or heard as they listened to white noise to write their album. The resulting tracks capture their typical eclectic spin on the edgy medium between electronic pop and leftfield dance music.

In the meantime, you can check out this video Thrill Jockey released for “Very Large Green Triangles.” As green triangles float around SF, the captivating chord stabs and eerie choruses give a peek into what you might experience from a Ganzfeld experiment.

Matmos also just released their latest full length, The Marriage of True Minds, which celebrates their 20 year relationship.
