New SoMa Urban Winery Set To Open – Tank18

A new space is San Francisco’s SoMa neighborhood opens on Saturday, January 26. Part winery, part tasting room, event venue and stage for rotating chefs, food trucks and cheese mongers, Tank18 is self-described as “big, loud and full of alcohol.”

Founders Patrick MacCartee and Cheryln Chin have configured the warehouse space into a modern and hip gathering spot, where guests will be able to enjoy both wine and food. Tank18 will debut five wine labels – a Temperanillo, Meritage, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. Tastings will be offered in flights along with a cheese sampler and bottles will also be available for purchase to drink in the lounge or to take home as well.

MacCartee and Chin will also be hosting pop-up style restaurants and food trucks in the space.

The opening on Saturday, January 26 is a sustainable BYO-Bottle event from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Guests can bring a washed out wine bottle to be refilled and corked for $7.99. For $2 more, Tank18 will supply the bottle.

Tank18 is located at 1345 Howard Street (at Dore) in San Francisco. The space will be open Thursday-Sunday from 3:00-10:00 p.m., and also for special events year round.
