announces the 2013 Summer Nights Outdoor Music Festival
Five Saturday Nights of Multicultural Musical Experiences

For 5 Summer Saturday nights in a row, dinners, cocktails, picnics, dancing, art projects, and more will all take place to live music outdoors, under beautiful Marin skies.

The Kanbar Center for the Performing Arts is excited to announce this years’ festival line-up. Set in a natural and safe outdoor venue the festival has grown as the most popular series of events at the Osher Marin JCC. The Summer Nights Festival is the family-friendly, clean safe and fog-free venue to celebrate friends, family, live music and the cultures of our Bay Area together in Marin. As eclectic as Marin audiences, the line-up offers tastes of sound and food from around the world with something for every age, from 2 to 102.
New this year, the Kids Zone will offer art projects through collaborations with other Marin non-profits for the little ones, and pop-ups will add to the experience.

Sat 7/13- Bluegrass Night: Hot Buttered Rum
Bay Area’s HOT New-grass jam band blues, rock, jazz, Celtic and old-time string band influences. BBQ dinners for purchase. Bread & Roses in the Kid Zone.

Sat 7/20- World Café: Rupa and the April Fishes with Classical Revolution Wild timeless world influences with hints of punk, indie rock, reggae, raga rockabolly, chanson, cumbia, and tonight… with strings attached! Dinners avail for purchase from local restaurant. Agricultural Institute of Marin in the Kid Zone.

Sat 7/27- Hawaiian: Hapa
Traditional Polynesian textures and rhythms that incorporate elements of pop and world beat. Hula dance instruction and performance included. Hawaiian BBQ dinners avail for purchase. Marine Mammal Center in the Kid Zone.

Sat 8/3- Latin Night: LoCura/Los Pinguos A night made for dancing: LoCura’s Mission based beats mix Flamenco, Reggae, Cumbia and Ska then… Los Pinguos bring their vivacious & infectious Argentine rhythms. Latin dance class and wooden dance floor available for this performance. Mexican food dinners available for purchase. Canal Welcome Center & Drawbridge in the Kid Zone.

8/10 Louisiana Roots: Andre Thierry & Zydeco Magic
Traditional Zydeco music fused with hip-hop, blues, jazz and rock. Two-step dance class and wooden dance floor available for this performance. Opening bands from Marin School of the Arts & Performing Stars of Marin. BBQ dinners for purchase.Performing Stars in the Kid Zone.

Single tickets- $20 Advance $25 Day-of/ Kids 17 and under are Free.

All are welcome, no membership is ever required to attend. The Center is a long-standing Marin non- profit, centrally located in Marin County and just 1/4 mile east off Hwy 101
