Asian Health Services' HIV/AIDS Program was established in 1988 to offer education and prevention, and confidential and anonymous testing to the low-income API community.
In 2009 the Strike A Pose! Yogathon was created to raise awareness and resources to continue to support the need for HIV/AIDS within the Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community in Alameda County. Despite national efforts to eradicate HIV/AIDS, 2 out of of every 3 AANHPIs indicate they have never been tested for HIV, and 1 in 3 with HIV do not know their status.
The 4th Annual Strike a Pose! Yogathon will be held in observance of National Asian and Pacific Islander (API) HIV Awareness Day, on May 18th, 2013.
Please register either as an individual or as a team (two or more people) for the Yogathon. We encourage you to create your own fundraising page where family and friends can sponsor you!
We welcome ALL yogi levels of experience to join the Yogathon! Yoga teacher assistants will be present onsite to help beginners throughout the event. Please bring your own mat. A limited number of mats to borrow will be available on a first come/first serve basis.
