The Omnivore World Tour and Other Food Events Around Town

Some weekly food events to whet your appetite.

Wednesday, November 7 (6:00 p.m.) – Alternative Thanksgiving Dinner at Maverick.

Maverick Restaurant co-owner and wine director Mike Pierce is holding a unique dinner featuring notable international wines perfect for pairing with a Thanksgiving feast. Wines will be paired with some of Maverick’s favorite Thanksgiving fixings. Dinner is $35 and seating begins at 6:00 p.m. Maverick Restaurant is located at 3316 17th Street in San Francisco.

Thursday, November 8 – One Year Anniversary at Izakaya Yuzuki.

It’s a restaurant that holds a special place in my heart. Izakaya Yuzuki owner Yuko Hayashi and chef Takashi Saito have not wavered from the beginning; they offer a truly authentic Japanese culinary experience. The restaurant is celebrating its one-year anniversary on Thursday with oysters for half price and a drink of your choice on the house. Izakaya Yuzuki is located at 598 Guerrero Street in San Francisco.

Friday-Sunday (November 9-11) – The Omnivore World Tour

Calling it a celebration of “young cuisine,” the global food festival known as the Omnivore World Tour is taking place this weekend at The Observation Post at the Presidio. Some of the best young culinary minds in the Bay Area – including Corey Lee, Dominique Crenn, Danny Bowien and James Syhabout – will be on hand for classes, demonstrations and some amazing dinners with chefs from around the country and world. Sunday, November 9 (10:00 a.m.) – Crab Catch at Nick’s Cove

Nick’s Cove Restaurant, Cottages & Oyster Bar is honoring the start of recreational Dungeness Crab season on Sunday with its inaugural Crab Catch. The event features several crab-centric activities including a crab-catching competition, cooking demonstration by Executive Chef Austin Perkins and lunch as well. Nick’s Cove is located at 23240 Highway One in Marshall.
