Electronic Day of the Dead Parties at 222 Hyde and Public Works

While World Series and Halloween celebrations wind down we move on to the next in party holidays with Day of the Dead festivities across the Bay Area. The next two nights bring big artists, electronic beats and Latin vibes to both 222 Hyde with DJ Funeral and Public Works with Turbo Sonido Futuristico, Baan vs Fuzzy Fotch and Matt Haze.

Tonight, Thursday November 1, monthly global bass party Bangers and Mash host the mysterious, masked DJ Funeral (pictured above) who has only played one other performance to date. He specializes in freaky, futuristic beats with a tropical flavor.

Also joining the party at 222 Hyde is Lights Down Low resident Joaquin Bartra who is known for more traditional upbeat dance music vibes with plenty of vocals. The party also includes a $100 costume contest so get out the face paint and rock a sugar skull at the club.

Friday night following the Dia de los Muertos procession in the Mission there will be a free afterparty in the Public Works loft featuring Mexico-to-Oakland transplant Turbo Sonidero Futuristico (pictured above) spinning what he calls “tumbia” – traditional cumbia sped up for the club.

Also performing will be a tag-team DJ set from Bad Shoes Records’ Baan and Fuzzy Fotch who last year grew in popularity among the moombahton club scene and use their Latin roots to make exotic dance music of all kinds.
