Giants Win the Pennant!!

May have heard the news – the Giants are once again going to the World Series. The team that never says die, has the heart of a champion, team of destiny and all the other cheesy sports sayings is in its second World Series in the past three years.

Because of the National League’s victory in the All Star Game, the Giants are the host team as the series starts Wednesday night versus the Detroit Tigers. Games 1 and 2 will be on Wednesday and Thursday at AT&T Park, Games 3-5 will be Saturday-Monday in Detroit and Games 6 and 7 will be back in San Francisco next Wednesday and Thursday. All game times are 5:00 p.m. with the broadcasts on Fox.

Detroit will start with ace Justin Verlander on the mound for Game 1 and will follow with Doug Fister, Anibal Sanchez and Max Scherzer in Games 2-4. Giants manager Bruce Bochy hasn’t released his rotation yet but one would expect Barry Zito to likely start Game 1, followed by possibly Tim Lincecum, Ryan Vogelsong and Matt Cain.

San Francisco has been taken over by “Orange October” and it looks like it will last at least another week. Giants or Tigers or should we even ask? Should be a great series either way.
