Greek Cuisine Debuts in West Portal

Orexi, which means “appetite” in Greek, opened 5 days ago at 243 West Portal Avenue. It took over the space of a former Round Table Pizza restaurant.

The city has less than a dozen true Greek restaurants. Many other places are simply Middle Eastern shops with a few Greek items. So this latest addition, does add diversity to the city’s long list of ethnic cuisines.

The restaurant seems like a good fit for the neighborhood, family friendly, elegant, but not stuffy. The inaugural menu includes a variety of traditional Greek dishes, including a meze plate with hummus, Tzatziki and Baba Ganoush, lamb chops, salads, and a pair of Greek pizzas. Expect to see further variety of dishes as the restaurant develops.

Open Tuesdays thru Thursdays and Sundays from 5 to 9:30 pm, Fridays and Saturdays until 10:30 pm. Closed on Mondays.
