Vernon Davis – Touchdown Maker and Gift Giver

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis catches touchdown passes with the best of them – now he’s doling out his own “touchdowns” to his many fans.

Teaming up with local food app GoPago, Davis is thanking his Facebook and Twitter fans by giving them $10 credit for any Bay Area restaurants using the GoPago mobile app.

Davis released the “VERNON” code Thursday morning on Twitter and Facebook to his fans and followers. New users can download the app on their iOS or Android smartphone, enter the code and redeem the $10 in credit at one of the hundreds of participating Bay Area restaurants.

Davis said that he uses his phone for almost everything and as an entrepreneur himself, thought the partnership would be a boost for local business owners.

GoPago CEO Leo Rocco said the collaboration was a natural fit because Davis is “so tech-savvy” and uses social media to connect to his fans.

Davis is not the first Bay Area athlete to connect with the San Francisco-based company – Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum participated in a similar promotion back in July.

GoPago allows consumers and brick-and-mortar businesses to connect with each other by allowing businesses the ability to have their customers use smartphones and tablets for mobile commerce. The company was founded in 2009.
