Free High-Tech Grilled Cheese on Thursday!

QR-code grilled cheese chain The Melt will celebrate the grand opening of their fifth store, in Berkeley, tomorrow Thursday, August 23.

The new shop is located just 2 blocks away from the UC Berkeley campus, at 2400 Telegraph Avenue, corner with Channing Way. It’s directly across the street from the popular C.R.E.A.M. ice cream sandwiches shop. For those coming from out of town, it’s 7 blocks from the Downtown Berkeley BART station.

The free celebration will run from 7 am til midnight. This free offer means that you can get a free breakfast melt until 10:30 am, or have lunch or dinner with a free soup and sandwich combo, until midnight or when they run out of food. One offer per customer. Expect to see a long line of hungry students (if they read this story).

The promotion is only available to those with the secret code. And the secret password is (drum roll please)… “Cheddar.” Enjoy!

If you can’t make it to the East Bay, don’t sweat it. The next opening celebration will happen in the city. Store number six (the fourth SF location) is scheduled to open in October (no exact date yet), at 710 3rd Street, corner with Townsend street. It’s right across the street from McDonald’s, and next door to Lucky Strike bowling.
