Smoke N' Mirrors and Monarch present WildKats

As a relatively new name in the deep house scene, London-based WildKats hit the ground running just last year. The threesome of Stuart Sandeman, Scott Dickie, and Corey Baker have a handful of releases to date on labels such as, Hot Creations, Lower East, Neim, Get Physical, and Hourglass Recordings. Their support spreads further with DJs affiliated with trendsetting labels, Wolf + Lamb and Crosstown Rebels playing out their tracks worldwide.

The trio didn’t just come out of nowhere. For starters, Stuart and Scott have a history of DJing as a duo under the name Sandeman & Mr. Dickie. Corey’s life in New York included a handful of residencies and a few years testing the waters of producing before he relocated to London. Eventually, the three found themselves running into each other at all the same parties, and after a bit of dialogue, they discovered that they had similar musical tendencies toward funk and disco-tinged house.

Their breakthrough is no surprise given the current popularity of these sounds. With thick, charging basslines and shimmering synths, WildKats are able to blend their ideas to create consistently catchy tracks.

If you missed their debut at Housepitality earlier this year, you have another chance to catch them at Monarch with Smoke N’ Mirrors’ M3 and Shiny Objects, this Friday, August 24. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here.
