Joanna Newsom Added to Treasure Island Lineup

Northern California native Joanna Newsom was added to the Treasure Island 2012 lineup today. The multi-talented harpist, pianist and singer-songwriter likes to keep a relatively low profile; she rarely tours, and this off-tour festival performance is a once-in-a-blue-moon occasion.

Newsom played with Phillip Glass at The Warfield’s benefit for the Henry Miller Memorial Library last month, but prior to that show, she had not performed in the Bay Area since her show at The Fox Theater in 2010. Her appearance at Treasure Island on Sunday, October 14th will be a rare chance for fans and curious festival-goers to hear Newsom live.

Also added to the Sunday lineup is up-and-coming band Wild Belle, consisting of sibling duo Natalie and Elliot Bergman. Part soulful crooning from Natalie and part seventies-inspired psychedelic, Wild Belle (unlike Newsom) is hot on the festival tour trail, having recently appeared at SXSW and heading on a US tour before hitting TI in October.

Catch Joanna Newsom and Wild Belle, along with many other artists,  at Sunday October 14th at Treasure Island Music Festival. Tickets range from $75 for single day to $129.50 – $239.50 for 2 day passes.
