BaconBacon Goes Brick and Mortar with Upper Haight Location

Gone are the days when hungry carnivores are forced to stalk the whereabouts of the BaconBacon Truck in order to satisfy their fix for salty pig parts. Jim Angelus and crew recently unveiled a new prep kitchen and counter in the Upper Haight.

The BaconBacon Kitchen

Previously based in South San Francisco, BaconBacon moved its storage space to 205A Frederick St. in order to eschew gas expenses and the commute. The space is used to prepare the truck for service, as well as breakfast and lunch counter service, Monday through Friday.

While some menu items from the truck are featured at “The Kitchen,” other creations are only accessible from the stationary hub, such as a breakfast sandwich of sweet and salty brown sugar-laden bacon jam spread upon a buttery, toasted brioche bun and topped with a fried egg, sharp cheddar cheese and—you guessed it—bacon.

For lunch, “The Bird” offers turkey, provolone, avocado, coleslaw and chicken-fried bacon all nestled into a soft French roll.

Bacon-Cheddar Scone, Coffee, Breakfast Sandwich

The BaconBacon crew hasn’t quite ham-mered out the details as to which offerings will be permanent and which will fluctuate, though there was talk of having a “Trucker Special” that would highlight one sandwich from the mobile kitchen each day while keeping the rest of the menu unique.

Currently serving drip coffee from Roast Coffee Co. from Emeryville, expect full espresso service in the few weeks (I anticipate a bacon-infused latte of sorts).

Other Menu Highlights:

–Bacon-Cheddar Scones

–The Hot Italian: seared pork belly, mortadella, salame, provolone, tapenade on ciabatta

–The Tuna: house-made tuna salad with melted provolone, arugula, bacon and mayo on toasted whole wheat

It is worth mentioning that The Kitchen has only one non-bacon item. The parfait layers house-made granola, Straus yogurt, honey and seasonal fruit—though I imagine they would chop up and sprinkle some bacon on top if you asked nicely.
