Urban Tavern Unveils Weekend Brunch

Everybody loves brunch. It’s just an accepted law of the Universe. Yet somehow, Urban Tavern (333 O’Farrell Street) is making the weekend even sweeter with a new, innovative brunchtime menu. The a la carte fare introduced by Executive Chef Colin Duggan will be served every Saturday and Sunday from 11:30AM until 2:30PM alongside standard lunch offerings.

One of the truly magical aspects of this hybridized dietary staple is that you can experiment with multiple meals while seated at one singular dining table. The resident chef seems to have taken this notion to heart with an assortment of entrees that would go well at absolutely any time of day:

A Lemon Griddle Cake Cannoli features fresh fruit, ricotta cheese, pistachios and maple syrup for $11. For just $4 more you can indulge on their unique Chicken & Waffles Benedict, using a cheddar serrano waffle as a base for fried chicken paillard, crowned with a spectacular poached eggs and decadent hollandaise. Even the more traditional breakfast dishes are adjusted for afternoon appetites. The Fried Egg Sandwich is jazzed up with bacon, smoked aioli and its unexpected delivery in between a fresh-baked ciabatta roll.

Perhaps the most remarkable element of brunch, however, is that it’s the only time when society seemingly encourages you to engage in heavy midday drinking. When life presents you with such a rare and special opportunity, tis forever unwise to look that gifthorse in the mouth. And with the extensive selection of spirits and cocktails at Urban Tavern, you’d be downright foolish to abstain from a pre-noon Bloody Mary. It’s 5PM somewhere, as they say. Though you’ll be plenty glad that it’s still brunchtime here in San Francisco.
