The Trumer Brauerie in Berkeley can pat itself on the back: their Trumer Pils received the silver medal in the “Best Pilsner” category at the recent 20th Annual Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA). And the best part is the Berkeley brewery shares this honor with its sister brewery in Salzburg, Austria.
“This award is extremely gratifying,” says Lars Larson, master brewer at Trumer in Berkeley. He is proud to share the award with the Austrian team, and comments that no gold award was handed out, so they really won top prize in the category.
The AIBA is the premiere beer and brewing showcase in the Asia Pacific region. This year’s event featured 1,344 entries from 258 breweries across 41 countries.
Looking to try the award winning beer? Trumer Pils is available at most grocery stores in the Bay Area and at several restaurants. The Berkeley brewery is also open Monday through Friday with free tours at 3:15pm.
