Preview: No Way Back with Metro Area

.

Saturday, May 5, No Way Back heads to Monarch with Metro Area. Since the late 90s, Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani have been incorporating timelessness into their tracks and mixes by carefully selecting elements across the spectrum of dance music styles.

Geist and Jesrani had known each other for a while before they decided to collaborate together as Metro Area. Their initial spark came from a mutual interest in experimental varieties of rock music from the likes of artists such as Thomas Dobly and Devo. Dance music was a natural progression for them, and soon after both began to produce in the early 90s in their respective cities of New Jersey and Manhattan.

In the mid 90s, Geist started his Environ imprint shortly before he teamed up with Jesrani. Originally, Metro Area was intended to be Environ’s house music sublabel, but Geist and Jesrani decided to move forward with their productions under this name. Together, they crafted a unique sound with a stripped-down, dub-like quality inspired by Italo disco, boogie, techno, and deep house.

In the meantime, check out their Fabric 43 mix for a better taste of what Metro Area have to offer below.
