Meals On Wheels Benefits To Be Held In Bay Area

Over the next two weekends, Meals On Wheels, the only home-delivered meal program in San Francisco, is hosting a pair of fundraising events.

On Sunday, April 22, the 25th anniversary of the Star Chefs & Vintners Gala will be held on Pier 48 in San Francisco. Always one of the most exciting food events of the year, it’s a night where some of the best chefs in the area come together, serving up wonderful hors d’oeuvres and a sit-down, three-course dinner.

Boulevard’s Nancy Oakes is once again serving as the Gala Chef Chairwoman for the eighth year. There is a cocktail reception along with a lavish dessert reception following dinner. Gala attendees are also asked to bring a special bottle of wine for the live auction; there is also a silent auction as well. Last year, the event raised more than $1.4 million to help feed San Francisco’s homebound seniors.

Unfortunately, the event is sold out this year, but it is always quite an evening for those fortunate enough to attend, all for a great cause.

On Sunday, April 29, the fifth annual OysterFest, a benefit for Meals On Wheels, will be taking place at Domaine Chandon in Yountville from 1-5 p.m.

A mix of oysters, bubbles and live music, all on the beautiful and scenic terrace of Domaine Chandon, which is hosting the event for the second year.

Chef Perry Hoffman of the Michelin-starred étoile Restaurant will be preparing the oysters. Guests can also order small bites from Domaine Chandon’s tasting lounge menu.

Tickets are $30 per person (plus tax) and includes entrance to the event and six oysters. Tickets are required and must be purchased by April 23. Wine tastings are from $18-25 and by the glass and bottle options are also available.

Meals On Wheels has delivered nutritious balanced meals to homebound seniors in San Francisco since 1970.
