Chinatown Institution Sam Wo To Shutter

One of the most popular dining spots in San Francisco’s Chinatown neighborhood is set to close this weekend.

The Chronicle’s Inside Scoop has the details on the closure of Sam Wo, which is over 100 years old.

Owner David Ho told the Scoop that “everything is too old” and that the restaurant will close after service on Friday night.

Sam Wo was especially popular with the late night crowd as it is one of the few spots in Chinatown that serves food until 3 a.m. The Chinese cuisine was perfect to sop up all the alcohol consumed that night.

An institution that will be sorely missed for sure.
