Gastronomy at Exploratorium: After Dark

Exploratorium After Dark

Remember the wonders of elementary school field trips to the Exploratorium? The giant soap bubbles, the crazy light and sound displays? Well it’s back for adults with Exploratorium: After Dark.

Thursday, April 5 is especially for foodies – join Exploratorium for a night dedicated to Gastronomy.

Last year, the massive Modernist Cuisine – a 2,438 page tome on contemporary cooking – came out from Nathan Myhrvold, Chris Young and Maxime Bilet. The 38.5 book has been described as “the cookbook to end all cookbooks.”

On April 5, Maxime Bilet will be joined by Anjana Shanker, one of the chefs on the kitchen team for Modernist Cuisine, and Seattle Food Geek author Scott Heimendinger for an evening of cooking demonstrations and explanations of modernist, molecular cuisine.

Expect food samples and demos all around: Exploratorium staffers will be serving fruit juice caviar, liquid nitrogen ice cream and other yummy surprises.

The event is 6pm to 10pm and tickets are $15, available both online and at the door.
