Soft Swells Free Show @ Brick & Mortar

California indie-pop band Soft Swells is following up their Noise Pop performance with a free show at Brick and Mortar tomorrow night. Tim Williams and Matt Welsh are the duo behind Soft Swells, a name inspired by waves on the beaches of California. Their self-titled debut album was released last month via Modern Outsider, the record and management label that is also host to indie bands like UME and Bad Veins.

Soft Swells played an energetic set alongside Picture Atlantic and Coast Jumper at local hotspot Bender’s Bar for Noise Pop 20. The duo combines organic elements like handclaps and xylophone with electronic accents to create contemporary indie pop in the vein of bands like Phoenix and Neon Indian. With their recent release, Soft Swells has received praise from Consequence of Sound, who gave their album a rating of 4.5/5 and was named a band to watch in 2012 by Buzzbands LA.

Catch Soft Swells’ performance at Brick and Mortar on March 6 with support from Burnt Ones, Blasted Canyons, and DJ TuRf-yArD. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm.
