Gallery Openings: Centering the Margin, Kenneth Baker & Outside In

This week’s best gallery openings include a special talk by Kenneth Baker at Meridian Gallery, and groups shows at Root Division and 1AM.

SF Chronicle art critic, Kenneth Baker, will speak this Friday, on the new Patrick Graham exhibit, Thirty Years: The Silence Becomes the Painting, at Meridian Gallery. The special event coincides with the 9th Annual Crossroads Irish-American Festival, and the exhibit will be on display through Saturday, April 14.

Also this Friday, back by popular demand, 1AM presents their second annual graffiti show, Outside In. The group show — including work by Steel, Yes2, Jurne, Pemex, Wand, and others — aims to showcase the striking artform that sometimes goes unnoticed in the streets.

Another group show, Centering the Margin, will open this Saturday at Root Division. The show was curated by artist, Anthony Ryan, and will feature pieces by 18 different artists, all based on, “spaces, events and artifacts that exist just outside our field of vision and attention.”
