V-Day Treat: Chris Orr's Break-Up 2 Make-Up Mix

Happy Valentine’s Day! Whether you’re snuggling up with a sweetie or not, Chris Orr sent me a mix this morning just for the occasion. Orr started DJing 26 years ago and has lived in SF since 1995, doing various writing and editing jobs for the likes of XLR8R, URB and US Mixmag. He held DJ gigs at Jelly’s, 1015, Bulletproof Boat and early Green Gorilla Lounge parties—including a Thursday weekly at The Top for a couple years which brought out talent including Pal Joey, Maurice Fulton, Jovonn, and 16B.

Orr found inspiration in dance music with artists such as Kraftwerk, Donna Summer, and The Human League. For this mix, he gets deep all over the spectrum of house music. The result is appropriately smooth and romantic.

You can also catch him DJing alongside Derek Boyle every third Friday of the month and next Thursday, February 23 at the second Casual Encounters party at Public Works.
