President Obama to Visit SF for Fundraiser

President Barack Obama is making it a habit of spending time in the Bay Area as he ramps up his 2012 re-election campaign with another visit to San Francisco on February 16.

The fundraising rally will include a dinner at the San Francisco home of novelist Robert Mailer Anderson and his wife Nicola Miner. Price tag: $35,800 per person. The dinner will also feature a musical performance, although the artist has not been disclosed at this time.

Following the dinner, President Obama will be delivering a speech and attend a reception at the Regency Center. Tickets for the 6 p.m. event start at $100 and go as high as $7500 for preferred seating and a photo with President Obama. The reception will also feature a performance from Soundgarden lead singer Chris Cornell.

The president last visited San Francisco in October for a fundraising event. His wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, is scheduled to visit the Bay Area in March.

  1. Obama’s event at the Masonic Auditorium was protested by a huge crowd of around 500 protesters, including cannabis activists, Tea Partiers, Occupy members, Ron Paul supporters, and pro-lifers.

There were also a ridiculous number of cops and emergency vehicles around. Gotta wonder how much the whole event cost SF taxpayers, and whether Obama’s campaign will be using any of the profits from his $35,00/plate dinner to reimburse the city for providing all that security for him.

  2. […] Michael Tusk of Quince and Cotogna fame has served plenty of celebrities and foodies alike. But on February 16, the award-winning chef will have the honor of preparing dinner for a fundraiser for President Barack Obama. […]
