Gallery Openings: Free Parking, 200 Yards, Menagerie & More

This week’s best gallery openings include new group shows at Big Umbrella, Satellite66, Modern Eden and Root Division.

This Friday, the new exhibit, Free Parking, will debut at Big Umbrella Studios. You’ll have the opportunity to purchase each piece at the show for the price of an SF parking ticket.

Also this Friday, 200 Yards, a group photography exhibit, will open at Satellite66 in SoMa. Preceding the show, the artists ventured out, in a 200-yard radius of Satellite66, and captured the photographs that will be displayed.

Now, switching gears to Saturday night — Menagerie, a 2nd annual exhibit, in conjunction with the local animal care and advocacy group, SF SPCA, will open at Modern Eden. The opening reception will feature a live DJ, complimentary wine, and light appetizer. Also, a minimum of 20% from each art sale will be donated to the SF SPCA.

MFA Now 2012, a juried graduate student exhibit, will round out the amazing group shows this week with an opening reception this Saturday at Root Division. The 19 students hail from CCA, Mills College, SFAI, Stanford and UC Berkeley, among other institutions.
