Theater: Vigilance & Fortunate Daughter Open, Sketchfest Closes

This week’s best theater events includes the premiers of two new plays and the close of SF Sketchfest 2012.

The 11th Annual SF Sketchfest started on January 19th and will close this weekend, with plenty of events going on now through Saturday February 4. The laughs are going down all over the city, so take a peek at the full schedule for details and ticket info.

Thursday marks the premier of Vigilance, at the Phoenix Theatre. Written by local playwright, Ian Walker, Vigilance is a thriller where secrets and murder take over a friendly neighborhood.

Come Sunday, writer/performer, Thao P. Nguyen, will presents her latest work, Fortunate Daughter, at Stage Werx Theatre. The one-woman show tells the conflicted story of a woman torn between her loving Vietnamese family who wants her to marry a man, and her other family of friends and fellow queers, who urge her to come out to her blood relatives.
