Umami Burger (2184 Union Street) quickly became one of the hottest new additions to the San Francisco dining scene after opening in 2011. In 2012 they’re expanding to the East Bay with a brand new Oakland location.

“When we look for new locations, we look for great neighborhoods,” said Adam Fleischman founder and owner of Umami Restaurant Group. “Since we opened our first location on La Brea, we’ve had requests to come to Oakland, which is a great food community.”

The restaurant will open in the heart of downtown, at 2100 Franklin Street, just blocks away from scenic Lake Merritt. Umami Oakland will be able to accomodate roughly 100 diners in its spacious interior. And if the Union street location serves as any indicator, their new digs will surely boast a hip and luxurious setting in which to enjoy their world-class gourmet hamburgers.
