Literary Events: Meg Waite Clayton, David Miller & More

This week, authors are back, making their rounds across the country. Here in SF we have Meg Waite Clayton, David Miller and Adam Johnson welcoming the new year with some literary love.

Meg Waite Clayton presents The Four Ms. Bradwells, this Thursday, January 5, at Books Inc. in Palo Alto. The event celebrates the paperback launch of the novel, a story of four girlfriends who reunite for a long weekend.

On Friday, David Miller shares his novel, The Circus Before Dawn, a mysterious piece about a haunted traveling circus. Miller will donate the proceeds of the book and Books Inc. will donate 10% of the evening’s proceeds to The Hole In The Wall Camp, an international charity for seriously ill children.

On Tuesday, Adam Johnson presents his quite timely novel about North Korea, The Orphan Master’s Son, at the Booksmith. When Johnson started researching North Korea, he was writing an ironic, playful story on Kim Jong Il’s rule, but after more research and finally traveling to N. Korea, he switched gears and produced The Orphan Master’s Son, a thrilling tale about a young man who works as a kidnapper in the corrupt land where everyone lives in fear.
